As the former president of Ghana famously said: “I am not African because I was born in Africa but because Africa was born in me.”

As we know, Africa is considered the cradle of humanity, but it seems the African voice has been sidelined and weakened in contemporary public discourse all across the world.

This platform is created to unearth what is means to have Africa born in us as global citizens by showcasing African voices that unpack what it means to be African in the 21st century.

This is more than just an attempt at instilling a sense of confidence and consciousness inside the African continent regarding our role as Africans to shape the future trajectory of this planet – although this will be an important first step – but moreover we believe that having an African mindset is a key antidote to many of the crisis facing humanity at this stage of our development.

As the Romans already knew: “ex Africa semper aliquid novi” (There is always something new out of Africa) we are keen to provide a space that seeks to co-create alternative ways of being and prospering that are rooted in our shared African humanity.
